Authorities in Uintah County, Utah have ordered the removal of locked gates and concrete barriers that had closed off access to the property known as Skinwalker Ranch.
The ranch gained noteritery after the publication of "Hunt for the Skinwalker" by George Knapp and Colm Kelleher. The ranch was a known hotspot for UFO activity as well as a wide range of cryptid reports and other unusual occurrences. The publication of the book placed the property in the national spotlight and seekers of the weird and unusual started flocking to the area hoping to catch a glimpse of strange phenomena.
Ranch owner, billionaire Robert Bigelow had the barriers erected on the road crossing the property in an effort to prevent trespassers. The barriers were technically illegal, but for some unknown reason, they were allowed to remain in place for years with local authorities doing nothing. Some conspiracy theorists believed there was government involvement in the blocking of the road.
Whatever the case, the county commission meeting last week on Halloween declared that the owners of the ranch had to unlock the gates and remove the concrete barriers from the public route.
The ranch itself is still private property and security personnel monitor it on a 24/7 basis. Anyone getting out of their vehicle along the road will likely encounter ranch employed guards.
The powers behind Skinwalker Ranch aren't taking the matter lightly. Paperwork is already in process to have the road legally closed once and for all.
If history is any indication, the road through Skinwalker Ranch won't be open long.
