Serpent Mound UFO Sighting

The Serpent Mound in Adams County, Ohio is a three foot high effigy mound. Though the site was first documented in the 1840's, much about it still remains a mystery. Originally, the mound was attributed to the Adena culture, but studies in the 1990's pointed to a much earlier construction.

The site has long attracted those who pursue the mysterious and some believe there is a possible Ancient Alien connection. The television show of the same name has in fact featured the Serpent Mound, drawing possible correlations between the ancient site and extraterrestrial visitors.

I received the account below from a witnesses who had an unusual sighting at the Serpent Mound. The encounter reportedly occurred in 2014. The sender chose to remain anonymous, probably due to the fact that the mound itself is a designated historic landmark and the park currently closes at sunset. Due to the sensitive nature of the site, no one is allowed on the mound itself, or on the grounds after hours.

"My girlfriend and I had heard a lot of stories from friends about the Serpent Mound and strange things going on out there. My cousin had told me that he'd seen a UFO himself out near the mound and we were really curious to see if we could spot one. We were out near the park one night, some friends of my cousin live out near it and the three of us decided to go in. Honestly I knew that we were not supposed to be in there but we didn't get on the mound or anything, we just walked into the parking area and we were sky watching.

We were probably only there about ten or fifteen minutes when we heard this weird buzzing sound. It was like an electrical vibration sound. We were looking all around and it sounded like it was coming from above us. My girlfriend was getting freaked out, she thought we were going to get into some real trouble. We went up to the little museum on the chance that the sound was someone there, but it was of course closed.
The walkway from there leads over to the mound and there's a viewing tower right by the mound. That's when we realized the sound was getting louder and that's when we spotted the three orange lights.

They were these three round balls of light and they were over top the Serpent Mound. From where we were, they were about the size of basketballs I guess, but it looked like they kept expanding and getting bigger, then contracting and getting smaller to the basketball size. This could have been a trick of light I guess because as we were standing there, these three orange lights were going back and forth over the length of the serpent. They were tracking the line that the serpent follows. They were all in a line and there was at least a couple of feet or more between them. They did this pattern a bunch of times, picking up speed as they went back and forth. We were all frozen to the spot watching and then my girlfriend made a sound. It was sort of a cry and gasp I would call it. It was weird because when she did this, the orange lights suddenly stopped in mid air, right around the middle of the serpent. It was almost like they had heard her. They just hovered there for a few seconds, then suddenly, they shot straight up into the sky. The went so high and straight up that in a second or two, we couldn't see them at all, they had faded into the sky.
We hightailed it out of there as fast as we could all swearing that we would never go back. It was exciting, but it was really scary at the same time.
The other thing I remember is there being a smell like burned air. We all felt like those lights were aware of us before they took off."

The Fontana Monster Sightings of 66'

August 1966. Two teenagers rushed into the sheriff's office in Fontana, California to report their close encounter with a strange creature.

Jerri Lou Mendenhall, 16, told officers that she and her friend had been driving along a dirt road just north of town when a creature suddenly came out of the bushes and attacked the car.
The creature reached through the driver's window and tried to grab Mendenhall. She quickly hit the accelerator and rushed away but not before a hairy hand brushed against her. The girl showed officers a set of scratches on her neck that she claimed to have received from the monster's large human like hand.
The witnesses described the beast as being at least eight feet tall and "like a gorilla on its hind legs."

The youths were in a hysterical state and described their encounter in great detail. The officers however, were not receptive to the report and made fun of the teens. One official laughed and said to Mendenhall:

"I suppose next you will be telling me that the monster was dressed in a pink bikini and you will expect me to believe that too?"

Angered, the girl retorted to the officer "Sure, of course, it was wearing a pink bikini!"

Still in a distraught state, the teenagers left the office, trying to ignore the laughter of the officers. Unfortunately, the pink bikini comment was picked up by a Los Angeles newspaper which further made fund of the entire account.

But there was more to the story. A number of other teens reported having encounters with a large, hairy creature on the local lover's lane. While law enforcement insisted that there was nothing to the story, at least one officer admitted, off the record, that he had found a huge, four toed footprint at the scene but didn't report it.

Several papers ran stories about Fontana's creature. The San Bernardino Sun-Telegram reported on the monster several times and included numerous witness statements. The Ontario Daily Report informed readers that there were numerous reports of the beast near the old Fontana dragstrip between Foothill Boulevard and Base Line Road. According to the paper, the creature was "A horrible monster with a hairy body, long hands, and claws dripping with slime."

By the end of August, the Daily Report ran a news item about an impromptu hunt for the monster. Sheriff's deputies were called out to reports of shots fired around the race track. Arriving on the scene, they found four teenage boys with a pair of rifles who were "combing the brush and shooting at everything that moved."
The boys were reportedly determined to find the local monster and bring it down once and for all. Officers confiscated the firearms and sent the boys on their way.

It was the last reported sighting of the Fontana monster of the period. While many people tried to play off the accounts as wild stories, the admission by a law enforcement that he found an unusual track implies there may be much more to the story of Fontana's monster.

Encounter in the Italian Alps:1947

Here's a strange encounter that occurred at Villa Santina, near Raveo Carnic in the Alps of Italy. The date was August 14, 1947 and the incident happened at nine a.m.

It'a a fairly early case in terms of UFO occupant lore and bears some curious aspects, including the disappearance of all aluminum from the witness's possession:

"Ascending a mountain stream, the Chiarao, R.L. Johannis came upon a 10-meter wide, lens shaped object of red burnished metal wedged into a rock crack so that it stood on edge. It had a low cupola bearing a thin telescoping antenna like a car's radio, and no openings.

Seeing two "boys" 50 meters away, he called out to them and began to approach them. When he was within 25 meters, he saw that they were midget-sized beings not over 3 ft. tall, wearing dark blue overalls of translucent material, with bright red belts, collars, and cuffs. Their large heads were covered with broad tight fitting caps.
They had immense round yellow green eyes with vertical slit pupils, and a mere slit of a shaped mouth, which kept opening and closing. Their skin was dull greenish; they walked like robots, with arms hanging.

After a couple minutes stupor, Johannis waved his geologist's pick and called out, asking who they were.

At this, one raised his hand to his belt and a thin puff of smoke was emitted; Johannis found himself flat on the ground, paralyzed, and feeling as if he had received an electric shock.

He saw one of the beings pick up his pick with a green hand that had eight fingers; four of them opposite like our thumbs. Then, with small steps, they slowly walked to the saucer.

A few minutes after they entered the rock crack, the disk rose vertically to about 15 ft above the ground (still on edge, "like a gong") & hovered there while Johannis tried to get up but fell back again. The disc tipped a bit and then took off with a blast of wind that rolled Johannis into the stony riverbed.

It was more than 2 hours before he felt able to walk home. When he unpacked his pack, he found that the aluminum objects in it were missing.

At this time, he had never heard of flying saucers."

This incident was originally reported in Flying Saucer Review Vol 13 #1 from May, 1964 and more recently by researcher Albert Rosales.
