Loveland Frogman

By far, one of the strangest cases in the chronicles of cryptozoology is the story of the Loveland Frogman, or, more properly "frogmen."

Loveland, Ohio is a town of about 12,000 people. It's in the southwestern portion of the state and is northeast of Cincinnati. The town was once a busy railroad stop and it straddles the Little Miami River.

The first incident occurred in 1955 when a trio of the creatures were spotted standing by the side of the road. They were described as humanoid frogs standing four feet tall.

What really added weight to the legend was an encounter in 1972. In this case, a police officer spotted the odd creature. The officer saw the frogman clearly illuminated in his patrol car's headlights and watched as it climbed over a guardrail and headed down to the Little Miami River.

During our travels a couple of months ago, Society of the Supernatural made a stop in Loveland and went to the site of the famous encounters as part of our Local Legends series.
