Blood from a Stone

Every month, L.A. Marzulli's news magazine, Politics, Prophecy & the Supernatural publishes a wide range of pieces from researchers around the country.

This month, my article, "Blood from a Stone" begs the question why is it that politicians still believe they can do exactly that--get blood from a stone, or, in this case, more money from citizens who seem to have less and less all the time.

Check out the magazine for other interesting commentary and perspectives from Richard Shaw, Tony Kail, Casper McCloud and many more.

Thylacine Footage 2016

Eighty years ago today, September 7, 1936, Australia's Thylacine was declared extinct when the last known animal died in captivity.

The last thylacine was trapped in the Florentine Valley by a man named Elias Churchill in 1933 and sent to the Hobart Zoo.  It survived for three years in captivity.

The Thylacine, also known as the Tasmanian Tiger, or Tasmanian Wolf, is a curious animal.  Evidence suggest a nocturnal nature for the apex predator.  It's a marsupial with both males and females having a pouch for the young.  The animal's size and shape are similar to that of a medium to large sized dog, with a stiff tail similar to a kangaroo's.  Dark, "tiger" like stripes cover the Thylacine's lower back.

Although the animal is officially extinct, sightings have continued to be reported over the years.  So many in fact that several expeditions have been launched to search for the creature.  None have had success yet, however, many researchers are convinced that the Thylacine survives in the wilds.

Several groups are active in Australia documenting sightings and searching for evidence.  Recently, a new video has surfaced from the Thylacine Awareness Group of Australia.  The clip was filmed in the Adelaide hills in southern Australia.  Check out this fascinating clip, including analysis and commentary by group members:

Paranormal 101

Here's a recent review of two of my books on the Paranormal 101 blog.
Colin with Cryptozoologist Ken Gerhard

Paranormal 101 is run by up and coming researcher of the strange, Colin Schneider.  I met Colin during my appearance at this year's Dogman conference in Ohio.  It's always impressive to see young people involved in the field, especially when they clearly demonstrate a passion for pursuing the weird.

Colin is making an effort to attend events, meet people who have been active in the field to ask their advice, and most impressively, Colin reads extensively in his area of study.  Too often, new researchers rely on sitting and watching hours of reality television shows and falling under the misconception that they're getting an accurate idea of what it's like to investigate and explore the strange.

It's up to all of us who are veterans in the field to encourage the young up and coming researchers, as with everything else, the youth are the future and will be the ones who continue the quest for answers into the future.

Keep an eye on this young man, I suspect we'll be hearing much, much more from him in the years to come.  And be sure to check out his blog.

BEKs On A Country Road

Here's a BEK report sent to me recently from a gentleman named Cade.  The incident occurred in 2001.  At the time of the experience, Cade was in the Army reserves and he and his cousin were on their way to purchase some vehicles from the Ft. Campbell base in Kentucky:

"My name is Cade. I was 18 yrs old in 2001 when my cousin and I were traveling to Ft. Campbell KY. We exited the hwy by accident and had been driving in the wrong direction for a really long time. We ended up on gravel roads in nowhere Kentucky.

Along the way we came upon two boys wearing straw hats and homemade clothes walking down the road. We stopped for directions. I asked them if they knew which way the military base was. They did not respond. I asked several questions regarding the base. Still no response. At this point I was using hand gestures about which way the helicopters came from. Still no response. At that point I looked ahead of me to a long gravel rd with no houses and then behind me to see the same. I said to them there is nothing out here and if I could give them a lift. It was then that both of them were looking straight at me and yes their eyes were as black as coal.

They both responded (you ought not trust us so much).

My cousin and I both looked at each other and freaked out.
We left them behind in a cloud of gravel dust and didnt look back.
It was weird. I tell this story all the time and wasnt until today that I have heard of other peoples experience with this."

Cade reports no after effects from the encounter, other than a chilling memory of the incident when he recounts it.

This is yet another report of BEKs wearing clothing that appears old fashioned or handmade.
